Feb 10Black History Facts Charles R. Drew – The Father of Blood Banks Dr. Charles R. Drew revolutionized blood storage, saving thousands of lives during WWII. His work led to the creation of modern blood banks, yet he fought against racial segregation in medical care.

The Future Problem Solvers club is holding a Toy and Clothing Drive NOW through Monday February 17th! Feb 10Valentine's Week at the Comet Coffee Corner! It’s Valentine’s Week, and the Comet Coffee Corner is celebrating with some sweet treats just for you! Our candy-inspired coffees are making a comeback, along with the refreshing and delicious strawberry/kiwi cooler! Want to mix it up? Add your favorite flavor to make it your own! Feb 10MIM @ Twinsburg Congratulations to Music In Motion, who won Overaall Grand Champion at the Hurricane Red Hot Championship this past weekend. MIM also won caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best, Band, Best Costumes, and Best Ending with an Oomph! Braylon Lytle was named best performer for Solon, AGAIN! MIM competes again this weekend at the Medina Midwest Showchoir Invitational. Go MIM!
Feb 10Boys/Girls Indoor Track Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Track teams for having a great weekend at the Spire Showcase last weekend. These athletes deserve special recognition. On the girls team: 1. Camryn Cane ran the 3rd fastest 800 meters in school history 2. Cariona Lewis broke her own school record in the 400 Meters in a scorching 57.48. On the boys team: 1. Eric Del Torto ran the 3rd fastest 60 hurdles in school history 2. Bryan Shin had the 3rd best throw in the Shot Put in school history 3. And the 4 by 200 meter relay team of Henry Sharpley, Eric Del Torto, Elias Lamarre, and Cole Taylor broke the 12-year school record with a time of 1:29.23. Excellent work guys!

Feb 11Mock Trial States Qualifier Congratulations to Solon Mock Trial's Team Marshall as they won both trials at regionals this past Friday and qualified for states! Team members are Pan Qi, Hansa Omur, Kartika Mohta, Mallory Kavanagh, Selena Liao, Chisom Ezetendu and Abbey Xiong. They will represent Solon March 6 & 7th in Columbus at the state finals.

Do you think you have what it takes to win? Purchase a raffle ticket this week for a chance to ball…class versus class.

Do a good deed while bringing someone joy this Valentine's Day and purchase a carnation for $2 at lunch. All flowers will be delivered first period on Friday.

Feb 12Black History Facts Malcolm X’s Connection to Cleveland Malcolm X gave some of his most powerful speeches in Cleveland, including “The Ballot or the Bullet” in 1964, a defining moment in the Civil Rights Movement. Urging Black Americans to use their votes strategically to fight racial injustice but warned that if the government continued to deny their rights, more radical action might be necessary.
