Apr 25Cheerleading for 2019-2020 We've got spirit....how about you? It's time to find our 2019-2020 Solon Comet Cheerleaders. Eighth graders are invited to an informational parent/athlete meeting about cheer tryouts to be held on Monday, May 6th at 6pm in the Senior Commons at SHS. We will discuss the tryout process in detail as well as the commitment to being a Solon Comet Cheerleader. Unable to attend the meeting? An informational packet will be available in the SHS Athletic office and the Athletic website after the meeting. Your presence is highly recommended. We look forward to meeting you - Monday May 6th at 6pm in the Senior Commons. We are...SC!

Attention students who have volunteered in the community or at school.  Your completed community service logs are due next Wednesday 05/01 to the SMS Office.  Completed logs verifying your volunteer hours need to be signed by an adult other than a parent.  If you need a community service log, please visit the SMS website under Quick Links, Community Service Award Information.  The PTA will recognize 7th & 8th grade students with 25, 50 and 100 hours of community service at the May Awards Assembly.

Apr 25Attention SMS Have you recently completed a copy change poem in language arts class? Are you revisiting your passionate position paper to make a speech? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then consider sending your work to Mrs. Parillo to publish in the Comet's Tale, Solon's very own creative magazine! Just type "V.A.L." in your Solon email account and Mrs. Parillo's name will pop right up. The deadline to submit this or any work is Friday. Thank you in advance for making this year's magazine fantastic!

Apr 18Comet Card Winners this Week! (4-18-19) Congratulations to our Comet Card student winners for this week for showing Passion, Perseverance, and Character! These students should come to the Counseling Office after announcements to pick up their prizes: Mekhi Ali and Sarbjot Singh – Way to go!
Apr 18Girls lacrosse Yesterday was the very first Solon middle schools girls lacrosse game and they played great! It was such a competitive back and forth game! The girls fought hard and played really well but fell TJ Chagrin Falls 8-6. We look forward to continuing to our goal of getting better and our next challenge!
Apr 18Baseball Last night your 8th grade baseball team defeated Orange 14-5. Adam Niederst pitched 4 innings and struck out 4 while Nate Barmen pitched 2 and struck out 1. Charlie Kasper came in to close out the game with three ground ball outs. Brent Adzema led the offense with 3 hits while 10 other teammates hat 1. Alex Mester and Evan Funderberg each had 2 RBI while Keean Porter and Niederst each scored 2 runs. Your team hosts West Geauga today at home at Solon Rec. Field 4. Come out and support your undefeated Comets on this beautiful day

 The concession stand will be open Tuesday through Thursday after school this week.  Stop by to purchase a snack or drink before your practice, game or club meeting.

Apr 23Baseball On Friday, your 8th Grade Comets defeated West G 14-2 to remain unbeaten on the year. Evan Funderberg pitches 4 innings and struck out 4 while Alex Mester came in to close out the game in the 5th. Funderberg and Charlie Bubonics aled the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI each while Colin Lantsberg chopped in with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Your team hosts Euclid today at SOLON Rec park field 4.
Apr 23High School Starlettes Auditions If you would like to be a member of the 2019 Solon High School Starlettes dance team, please come to a Parent and Student informational meeting on Wednesday, April 24 at 6 o'clock PM in the HIGH SCHOOL Orchestra Room. Auditions will be held April 30 through May 3 in the High School Orchestra room. Please see Mr. Mauldin for additional information.

Apr 248 Baseball Last night your 8th grade baseball team defeated Euclid 19-1 in 5 innings. Domenic Cipriano and Brayden Salomon comined to No-Hit the panthers and strike out 8. Alex Mester led the offense with 3 hits and 4 runs scored, while Charlie Kasper had 2 hits and 4 RBI. 7 other players contributed with hits. Your team hosts Shaker on Friday at home. Good Luck Men!

 The final box top collection is due in 2 weeks on Wednesday 05/08.  Please begin bringing in your box tops.  The top collecting homeroom in 7th & 8th grades will earn a sweet treat from the PTA.

 SMS PTA has provided breakfast bars & mints for students on their first day of testing.  Good luck on your OH Math State Tests this week.
